Review
Garrett Samuelson is the star hockey player and the king of one-night stands. He doesn’t even go on a date with a girl for more than three times. His life is pretty much revolves around partying and playing hockey.Â
“I love women and love fucking them. But they take a backseat to hockey…my one true love. Always have, always will.”
Olivia Case is Sutton’s (the heroine from Alex, first book in the series)Â cousin. She works at a flower shop with her best friend Steveie. Olivia’s life upto this point has been pretty easy and simple, she works, goes out with her friends and spends time with her family.
Garrett from the moment he meets Olivia feels attracted to her, he wants her to go out with him but strikes out. Olivia who has gotten the worse news of her life doesn’t mind the flirting  from a gorgeous guy like Garrett but she knows that it isn’t going to go anywhere. Olivia finally says yes to Garrett after steveie egging on/advice to live a little and have fun.
I did like that both the protagonist didn’t have extra baggage like childhood traumas or commitment issues because of their family etc. I also liked that the book had less angst in it even though the book deals with a huge illness because that’s something thats serious enough as it is. I also really liked Garrett, at first I was a bit leery of him but he won me over. He was great with Olivia.Â
Quibbles: Firstly Slight things Olivia is a university graduate she should know what an oncologist is, she should also know what median life expectancy means and what’s the deal with the word snicker both Garrett and Olivia snickered a lot. I just don’t imagine people in their mid-twenties snickering a lot, it seems very juvenile or maybe that’s just me. Secondly, I felt like Olivia would never have given Garrett a chance if not for the fact that she was ill. Lastly Olivia’s behaviour after 80% of the book, View Spoiler »
Overall, it was a lot better than the first book in the series and I liked it. Happy Reading!Â
Please note: Cancer is a issue that deeply affected my life so my personal feelings may have affected this review and hence the reason I didn’t focus much on it.Â
